ASIAN PONY BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

              


Saturday 21st - Thursday 26th July 2007
 
A terrific time for baseball fans was had, supporting the kids in action at the Bahay Bata Center.

Teams from Chinese Taipei, Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines Metro Manila and Philippines Central Luzon competed in this important international tournament, hosted by the Bahay Bata Center, and Rotary Club of Clark Centennial.

To no one's surprise, Taiwan won the tournament; defeating Japan 9 - 0 in the final game.   The day before they defeated the same team 8 - 0.

    


The Bahay Bata Braves played an exhibition game with Hong Kong, winning 12 - 4. WOW; when was the last time that the Philippines beat Hong Kong in anything? Congratulations to all of our players, they learned a great deal from meeting the other teams. As Taiwan team were leaving the field after winning, they passed by the Bahay Bata Braves sitting in the stands;  and the Taiwanese team all yelled "Thank You" as they passed our boys.

One of the features at all Pony League finals is a show piece by each team.... The Japanese put on a great cultural presentation; the Taiwanese did a street rap/dance; both showing that the boys could not only play baseball, but had good creative talents in other areas as well.
